Smug

Is an indication of a good weekend purchasing a beautifully tailored vintage skirt? Visiting another cracking East London pub? Having the sun shine whilst walking along the street, popping in and out of interior design stores?

It's got to be, doesn't it?

A cloudy day, turned into sunny skies as my companions and I meandered along Upper St today. I normally ride along this road on my way to work, pedalling along furiously, my internal competitiveness kicking in. So today I wanted to take it in, peruse the boutiques and absorb their wares.

I've been in and out of the laneways that run parallel to Upper St many time before. Today turned a corner however, as it the first time I noticed SMUG, an interior design store housed with just about everything I love.

Filled with deco glasswear, retro furniture, accessories, kitchen utensils and more, SMUG made me smile- it's exactly the store I want to own. Immediately, SMUG made me want to have my own space to fill with all SMUG wear.

I'm keeping my eye on this one; I suggest you pop in when you're around Islington. Make day of it, then maybe your weekend will be as good as mine just was.

Swedes

Clearly I cannot post YouTube clips without them taking over my side panels. I've tried to use the smallest videos, though they are still too large.

Oh the perils of life.

Home from Sweden after a small city break long weekend.

Shall I say that the cliches are all true about the beauty of the Swedes? True beauty, beauty that you see once every so often that you have to double take to believe.

The men are channelling shoulder length viking-esque hair with amazing style, and imaginative dress sense. Cons were worn with disregard, as were skinny jeans, chinos, distressed jackets, and tailored blazers.

The girls were Nordic queens and resembled every Hollywood beauty that lived. They were styled with oversized reading glasses, again wearing converse with opaque tights or jeans, and an amazing coat. The coolest were seen riding their bikes along the avenues, with their brown leather satchels poking out of their baskets.

At night, one could say the style for the ladies changed and was a little too minxy (read: tacky). Perhaps these were just the girls that slept all day, after partying all night thereby swaying my daytime view of the Swedish lady fashion. Anyhoo, high, high heels with skintight spandex dresses (oh brother), coupled with a little bag conveniently fitting in their fags and kroners, seemed to be the go.

It was so delightful to be led by some lovely Swedish friends, who took us to a gorgeous Gotherburg 'restaurang' where we partook in smoked herring, pea and smoked salmon tartar soup, veal with celeriac mash and for desert, poached pear. Sensational.

Oh, the coffee was definately passable too. Whopping suprise!

I shall probably post more about this, though am minutes away from starting my working day.

Now I can plan my activities for Iceland- volcano watching anyone? x

Eat, Pray, Love film trailer

A couple of entries ago, I blogged about a book I was reading called Eat, Pray, Love.

Well now that I have finished the book, onwards to the film. I noted that it probably won't honour the book and it's good name (and I maintain this), though I do believe it will try. Watch the trailer above to come to your own conclusions.

Lesbian laughs

Mondays were tested last night with the season break of Glee. I rarely just sit and engage with the television and to be fair, I didn't really with Glee either though for those moments of sarcasm and song, I relish it. And now I wait for season 2.

And now, I thought there was no better way to fill the gap then to recap on some classic Sue Sylvester quotes. Let's go.

"You'll be adding revenge to the long list of things you're no good at, right next to being married, running a high school glee club and finding a hairstyle that doesn't look like a lesbian."

"All I want is just one day a year when I'm not visually assaulted by uglies and fatties."

"I, for one, think intimacy has no place in a marriage. Walked in on my parents once and it was like seeing two walruses wrestling."

"I don't trust a man with curly hair. I can't help but picture little birds laying sulfurous eggs in there, and it disgusts me."

"I'll often yell at homeless people: 'Hey, how is that homelessness working out for you? Try not being homeless for once."

See below for the fresh promo for Glee, season 2.
